Martin Rakuraku

Martin Rakuraku is a former Te Karere news journalist. Martin has held positions in the Whangarei Maori Land Court, the Taitokerau Polytechnic and the Justice Department. He now resides at Waimana with his wife Elsie.

Clifford Akuhata

Clifford is the Chairman of Te Waimana Kaaku Marae Tribal Executive Committee. He also represents Waimana as a Trustee on both Te Kotahi a Tūhoe Trust and the Tūhoe Establishment Trust. “I wish to promote unification and consolidation of our iwi.”

Iharaira Max Tēmara

Existing Board Member. Marie is the Chair of the Tūhoe Services Trust. She has spent many years committed to Ngā Uri o Tūhoe in particular working with kuia, koroua, pakeke, rangatahi and mokopuna as an educator, facilitator, supervisor, mentor and trainer.

Kapi Tupe

Kapi Tupe

Existing Board Member. Ex-Royal NZ Navy, Kapi is a Ranger for the Department of Conservation. He is also a Trustee of the Waiohau Marae Lands Trust and member of the Ngāti Haka – Patuheuheu Hapu Trust.

Hiria Hape

Hiria Hape

Hiria was born in Ruātoki. Hiria has a Master of Education from Victoria University and has held senior advisory and cultural roles in government. As a result she has an extensive network of affiliations with government departments and iwi “I maintain good relationships with our hapu and iwi living at home and those living away from the wharua”.

Existing Board Member. Hana is the General Manager of the Tūhoe Mātauranga Trust providing Te Kaokao o Takapau Health and Disability Services in Taneatua. Hana is also the Secretary for the Waikirikiri Social Services Committee and a Trustee of Waikirikiri Marae.

Tamaroa Nikora Existing Board Member. Surveyor and planner MINZIS. “If elected, I intend to improve the governance of the Board and to promote the economic, social and cultural development of Tūhoe”.

Waikaremoana Division:

Neuton Lambert

Existing Board Member. Neuton is a member of the Tūhoe Education Authority, Te Kura o Waikaremoana Board of Trustees, Ruapani ki Waikaremoana Whenua Topu Trust, Kokako School Board of Trustees, Te Rūnanga o Tūhoe Potiki ki Waikaremoana and Waikaremoana Maori Committee.

Jennifer Takuta-Moses

Jennifer Takuta-Moses

Jennifer has lived in Waikaremoana most of her life and has developed many initiatives to benefit whānau, hapu and iwi. “As a Trust Board Delegate I will insist on a change management programme of the Board over the next 12-18 months with a focus to include decentralisation.”

Lance is a dedicated worker within the community services of Waikaremoana.

Te Toka Tēmara

Te Toka Tēmara

Chairman of the Existing Trust Board. Member of the Tūhoe Establishment Trust. “The Board seeks to manage our assets and to actively support Tūhoe culture and language. The Board alongside Tūhoe Fisheries Charitable Trust is assisting Te Kotahi a Tūhoe Trust to settle all Tūhoe Claims and to establish a new post settlement structure for Ngāi Tūhoe”.

Rongonui Tahi

Rongonui Tahi

Existing Board Member. Rongonui is a scholar of Tūhoe conservation methods and Te Urewera National Park. A life-long teacher in Tūhoe conservation method Rongonui is a Ruatāhuna based educationalist.

Pou Tēmara

Existing Board Member. Distinguished member of the Waitangi Tribunal Professor Pou Tēmara is a lecturer at Waikato University and one of three top scholars who teaches at Te Panekiretanga o te reo.

Puke Timoti

Puke Timoti

Youngest member ever of the Trust Board. Puke is a qualified architect and former presenter of Tu Wera a Maori Television programme for Maori youth. Puke lives in Ruatāhuna.
