Power to the people
2009 is the second time there has been a ballot in the history of the Trust Board. The extra nominations are a sign of the increased interest in the Trust and in Tūhoe issues. We encourage everyone to vote. It is an exciting time for Tūhoe.

Kaumātua check registrations Kaumātua have checked the whakapapa for the beneficiary registrations at the Trust Office.
The Board is very appreciative of this support. The General Manager organised a special showing of Ka Haku Au, the Kohine Ponika docu-drama, as all our Kaumatua knew Kohine and most had sung and performed with her. It was a special thrill for Nanny Te Uru McGarvey to see herself for the first time performing in the front row for Queen Elizabeth in 1970. The evening was so successful that the Trust has received many requests to hold other celebratory evenings. We will keep you posted. top

New investment in Ruātoki
The Trust has just completed the purchase of a dairy farm at Opouriao. It is the farm adjacent to the Hatupere North Dairy farm which the Trust owns and runs as a model farm. The Trusts advisors have strongly recommended this purchase as it will enable the Trust to amalgamate three dairy sheds into one modern rotary shed capable of handling up to 2000 cows.
The investment will significantly increase output and boast economic development in the Ruātoki Valley and enable around 100 ha of Maori Lease land to be incorporated into the development. This purchase has significance to Tūhoe as it is all confiscated land. The Trust now owns land from the hills to the Whakatane River at the entrance of the Ruātoki North Valley. All bought from the Trust's own investment funds. top
