TAHORA 2G2

History

Originally Tahora 2G2 was a block of land situated east of Maungapohatu. After going through a few different trusteeships the block was returned to the owners encumbered with survey debts, rates arrears and no legal access. In 1961 the land also became subject to timber milling restrictions which prevented any economic use of the land.

The land was next vested in a Body Corporate (Proprietors of Tahora 2G2 Incorporated) who negotiated the exchange of Tahora 2G2 east of Maungapohatu for Crown land in the Rangitaiki valley suitable for forestation. The new land block retained the original land name.

A meeting of the Body Corporate on the 15 December 1973 resolved to wind up and vested the land in a 438 trust where the TWMTB was appointed trustee.

On the 31 May 1982 the court vested sections 2 & 13 Block III, Rangitaiki Survey District in all the former shareholders of the body Corporate.
